A Common Blogger Practice, What do you think of it?

Shorts: old jeans,  Top: Thrifted,  bracelets: street market,  Shoes: Forever21 (Similar here)

One of those days that felt like being in a very 'casual' (if you can call it that) outfit. Since my 'super heels' are totally comfortable decided they would go well with the look..... uuhhm Lets pretend they look perfect :)  Muscle tees are a big thing and I have a collection of them some thrifted, some bought. If you, like me, like  muscle tees with cute prints (see the 'Vitamin Water Princess'?) check out this one with the coolest  (or sweetest) print ever or this super boho one.

Now to the subject:
I get a lot of "follow me and I will Follow you back" comments. I go visit the blogs and if I honestly like it, I follow it, otherwise I just leave, Maybe, loosing a potential 'followers'.  This Blogger dynamics got me to think that if I am following someone just to get a follow back .... What good is that for my blog and the growth and development of it?? I think none! NO! it doesn't bother me, but after reading some articles it got me to think: what kind of 'followers' do we, bloggers, need? I think the perfect ones are those genuine followers that like the blog and the author behind it. Am I missing something here? I feel like I am because there is an enormous "crave" for followers even if they never come back :( . I heard from a blogger with thousands of followers, how hard it is to get people to visit her again so that scenario summarizes my point.
I DO appreciate comments WITH LINKS a lot, this is a community and leaving a link makes it easier for us to connect, plus I have found my favorite blogs through comments they leave me with their link on it but the "follow me and I will Follow you back"??.... while I respect those who do it, I don't see the purpose of it.... PLEASE EXPLAIN ME!
I would LOVE to hear your comments on this particular subject, so tell me what you think about this blogger's dynamic??

Have a happy weekend and thanks for visiting me :)
XO

  1. First at all, If I read something in English, I understand all. But writing is a problem for me. So sorry for me bad English. ;)

A absolutely agree with you what you write about Follow me/I follow back. For me counts not the followe number, for me counts the "real Follow" who is really interested what I write on my blog.

And by the way, you look fantastic in muscle shirts.

  2. I personally hate getting those comments and it's pretty much a guarantee that, not only will I not follow back, I won't visit the blog in question. My personal feeling is that those types of bloggers are only interested in racking up followers, not in actually working on their writing and content to provide something that people actually want to read or in having a dialogue with like-minded people. That's my two cents on it.

  3. Honestly, I don't get those 'please follow back' comments either. I think it's a bit desperate but it has always been here and I think it'll always exist. I would love a large community behind my blog, but only if those followers genuinely like and read my posts!

  4. Sweetie thank goodness you brought up this topic, i use to think like this until one day, i said to myself well... life is a market place just like our blogs, we travel through the internet, we meet people who likes and who dislikes our interests, well... sometimes there is a need to tell people to follow you, maybe? it's just like been in a market square with loads of competitors selling same stuffs, you need to patronize your consumers and preach to them that your own product is different and unique, if you don't, they just pass by and stare that's all, but if you go out sharing your business card, giving samples, sales, offers and all sorts, pleading is also a local means of advert (like saying follow me)lol, I bet people are gonna patronize you. Hmmmmm.. i see your point and totally agree with you, but lets look at the bright side of it. I have visited so many great blogs with very few followers, i then think what's wrong? some strictly do not follow people they don't care and remain like that, even if you follow them they wouldn't even follow back lol, No matter how great your blog might seems to be.there are loads of stuffs going on in the blogging world. I think i am learning everyday. By the way you look super stunning!!!

  5. Well, now if a blogger leaves a comment on my blog asking for a follow for follow I always check there blog out. If I love it then I follow it. I then return to there blog as often as I can. when I first started I would simply follow for follow but after a while I realised that my bloglovin inbox was just being filled with blogposts I wasn't interested in. Most of these bloggers would never visit again and so there I was visiting and commenting on blogs I didn't like. I will probably lose followers by not always being prepared to follow for follow but I think all bloggers need followers who are actually interested in the content of there blogs and will return to read and comment. Sorry for the long comment but this is an interesting subject and one that has been on my mind recently!

  10. You look great in this outfit. The muscle tee looks great on you and you have great arms for it. I don't think I could wear the shorts, but they look great on you too! But those shoes are amazing - can't believe they are Forever 21!

Hhhhm I have mixed opinion about the follow for follow. I think if you genuinely enjoy each other others blogs and visit each other's blogs regularly then it's nice to ask each other to follow - i think we may have even done that. But if you are not interested in the blog and you don't intend to visit the blog again, I think it's just very selfish and self centered to follow and ask for a follow back.

    Great post!

  11. Follow for follow in my humble opinion , just increases your following number but that's not what makes your blog grow , blog growth is based on how many people visit spend time on your blog and that's only achieved by doing a good job on your blog and commenting , people will follow and visit . I find follow for follow comments so annoying ! and on to prettier topics you look gorgeous ! how do you do it to always look so amazing!

  14. Lovely look,
i will admit When i first started bloging, i use to do that but stopped at some point because i saw no need in follow for follow, i believe if someone like the content on your blog they will keep coming back for more, you don't have to beg for followers, You made a point there, i mean what is the point of having thousands of followers if they will never visit your blog afterwards, i get a lot of that on my post too, but i ignore it.

  18. You look amazing, those shoes are pretty fabulous! It usually depends, if that is all they said in their comment, I usually ignore them because I feel like they are just saying the same thing to everyone. If they left a genuine comment and included that, then I will visit their blog! :)

  20. I agree with you that following someone to get a follow back does not exactly get you genuine followers. By experience I can say that because most of the few followers I have right now, I've gotten them that way. Still, its a start, and I like to do the favor to support other bloggers that way, its good karma I guess, but the ones that get more support through comments and mentions are the ones that really interest me ;)

  21. First of all you look incredible in this casual outfit, side note..GREAT Legs lady! :)

Now with regards to your question about the whole Follow me & I will follow back. I have been blogging for a couple of years now and have had a few of those bloggers who leave those comments. I follow them and then I never hear back. I honestly would rather have less comments & followers but those that are TRUE & legit blog readers. I'm a firm believer of quality over quantity.

Have a great week doll. xo

  22. Firstly, I really love your bag and hat.

And I thoroughly enjoyed your words in the post. I'm more likely to be okay with the "follow me and i'll follow you back" comments when they at least make the effort to address SOMETHING in my post. Otherwise, plain copy&paste is annoying. I'm actually amazed at how many people and companies say things like "must have over 1000 followers to be considered for sponsorship", which is where the follow-back system works, since people can easily see the GFC/bloglovin' number. Rarely does anyone actually get to see a blogger's pageviews. I think there's also a mentality that higher numbers means that more people will think that your blog has value (it encourages other followers).

With that being said, I loved that you wrote something of substance and I am definitely following you on bloglovin' and facebook. FOLLOW ME BACK! ;)
(Especially on facebook. I noticed that we both have pretty low numbers. Gotta get the ball rolling, right?)

    Sincerely,
    Sabrina

  24. those heels are amazing. who says just because it's casual, you can't wear heels. i personally need the lengthening in the legs regardless what occasion it is. :)

while i've never done the follow for follow thing, i can see why some people do it. maybe this kind of gorilla marketing as been working for them. i mean, why does companies spends billions on telemarketing? everyone hates cold calls, but some how they're still doing it. it must be effective for them. to each his own.

  26. I completely agree with you - that follow me, I'll follow back kind of sentiment is kind of pointless in my mind. What really matters to me in having followers, is that I have readers who I can have genuine conversations and discussions with! Quality over quantity!
